Science, technology and innovation play significant roles in today’s economies and their management is therefore considered as an indispensible part of leading any business towards its visions and objectives.
Development and application of technologies bring values to organizations. However the amount and durability of these values depend on the organizations’ approach to seriously and systematically deploy and update its technology strategies and technology development plans.
A well structured and effective technology management (TM) process has to undergo several steps and take into consideration a lot of details in technology assessment, technology foresight and forecasting, technology roadmap development, technology transfer and organizing research and development activities in order to make success stories for business leaders in managing their portfolio of technologies. Today and after approximately two decades of formal activities in TM there are many rich and very handy toolboxes in any of the above mentioned fields to make it a simplex (simple yet complex) for technology planners and decision makers in technology based organizations to plan and manage their technologies and technological investments.
Our oil and gas industry (like any similar industry in the world) is by nature very dependant and sensitive to development and application of common or emergent technologies in the vast field from exploration to development and production phases. In fact technology and innovation have great tangible shares in the industry’s productivity and economic return. Therefore it is not only worth to invest in and seeking for appropriate models and efficient tools to set technology policies and strategies for the sector but it is definitely a must.
Based on this impression and understanding from the importance of TM and its vital role in our oil and gas industry development and its economic productivity, Institute for International Energy Studies (IIES) has planned to dedicate its 15th international conference to “Innovation and Technology in Oil and Gas Industry”. The main objective of this conference is to attract all attentions towards the necessity of applying technology and innovation management tools for the promotion of the industry and also to introduce, share and take advantage of the state of the art experience in this regard. Hence all international and national scholars and experts from different fields of activities including academia, industry managers, specialists and researchers are invited and most welcome to participate.
